Reading
is invaluable, even if you don't remember every word, something stays, maybe its an image, or a thought, a feeling, a sense, a title or the feel of the book in your hand, the colour of page 2, the weight, the smell, the space between the lines, the pattern carved out by the ink, the slickness of the interactive PDF, the type font, the window in which is was displayed, the excitement that you felt when you first saw it there, the person who sold it to you, the colour of their eyes, the way they glanced at you, briefly, as though attempting to make up for a life-time missed before and after that moment, the wonder you felt as you tried to predict how the story might begin and hopefully never end, the guilt you now feel for not recognizing that glance, or maybe its that feeling of concern when you reach page 5 and it still hasn't grabbed you yet and the size of the book worries you further, maybe its that moment as you made the decision whether to read it or not, that page you hesitantly turn. To hesitate is to remain in-between, a moments pause, of freedom to think, of opportunity, to change direction, hesitate and other options open (O.O.O).
Reading is invaluable but not necessary (?). If you feel the necessity, here are some things we have found particularly inspiring over the last few years.
